HC Deb 22 March 1990 vol 169 cc747-8W
34. Mr. Hunter

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will make a further statement on the United Kingdom's contribution to international co-operation against terrorism.

Mr. Waddington

The mainstay of our contribution to the international fight against terrorism is the daily advice, assistance and support that we provide to our partners in responding to terrorist threats and incidents. On top of that, we continue to be prominent in the TREVI group and other international fora in working towards joint agreement on effective, practical measures. Co-operation against terrorism is high on the agenda when I meet colleagues in other Governments bilaterally. I recently had such meetings with the State Secretary for the Ministry of the Interior of Spain and the Minister of Justice for Denmark, and I shall be meeting European Community colleagues collectively at the next meeting of TREVI Ministers in Dublin in June.
