HC Deb 22 March 1990 vol 169 c740W
Mr. Nicholas Bennett

To ask the Secretary of State far Social Security what assistance is provided to people who are terminally ill in respect of attendance allowance and other benefits.

Mr. Scott

All the relevant social security benefits are available to people who are terminally ill. In addition, the current Social Security Bill includes provision to remove the six-month qualifying period for attendance allowance for terminally ill people from October this year. The Department's leaflet "Sick or Disabled?" (FB 28) gives information on the benefits available to sick and disabled people. A copy is in the Library.
