HC Deb 12 March 1990 vol 169 cc60-1W
71. Mr. Rowe

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs how much support the Government provided for community-based rehabilitation courses and programmes in the last year for which he has figures; and how the support was deployed.

Mrs. Chalker

A list of projects funded by ODA in 1989–90, which focus on the needs of disabled people, was provided in the answer that my hon. Friend the Member for Warwickshire, North (Mr. Maude) gave my hon. Friend the Member for Exeter (Mr. Hannam) on 6 December 1989 at columns231–32. Many of these activities are community based or have a community-based component. In addition, nine overseas students studying on the diploma for teachers and planners of community-based rehabilitation in developing countries at the Institute of Child Health in London have been financed this year from the overseas aid programme.
