HC Deb 09 March 1990 vol 168 c903W
Mr. McFall

To ask the Secretary of State for Employment in view of the demographic trends, what further plans he has to attract more women into the work force.

Mr. Nicholls

I refer the hon. Member to the reply given to a question from my hon. Friend the Member for Derbyshire, South (Mrs. Currie) on 16 January,Official Report, columns 234–35, where the many steps being taken by the Government to facilitate the re-entry of women to the labour market were set out in detail. The Government will continue to encourage employers to adapt traditional working practices in order to accommodate the needs of those with family responsibilities and, where appropriate, will assist in ensuring that information and practical assistance is available for women returners.
