HC Deb 05 March 1990 vol 168 c468W
Mr. Fraser

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he will seek to abolish the term common prostitute; and whether he will make a statement.

Mr. John Patten

No. We believe that the present arrangements—that the police make a record when they caution a woman for soliciting, and that convictions under the Street Offences Act 1959 depend upon the woman having been cautioned on an earlier occasion—are satisfactory.
