HC Deb 05 March 1990 vol 168 c496W
Mrs. Gorman

To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what was the percentage value of the poultry siezed for slaughter under the Zoonoses Order 1989, paid as compensation to the poultry's owner.

Mr. Maclean

When a poultry flock in which the presence of salmonella has been confirmed is compulsorily slaughtered, compensation is paid in accordance with the requirements of the Animal Health Act 1981. The amount paid is based on the scale of values depending on the age of the birds and represents 60 per cent. of the value of a healthy flock.
