§ Mr. TrippierThe extent of the environmental damage by the communist regimes in eastern Europe requires international assistance. The United Kingdom is acting primarily through a joint programme co-ordinated by the European Commission. This programme is expected to extend to Romania. In the United Kingdom the oil industry would no doubt consider requests by the Romanian Government where it could offer practical assistance.
