To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland how many head teachers of mixed-sex secondary schools in Scotland are women; what is the total number of head teachers in such schools; and what percentage of that total are women.

Of 419 head teachers of public sector mixed-sex secondary schools in Scotland recorded in the school census of September 1988, 15 (4 per cent.) were women.
