§ 46. Mr. Allan StewartTo ask the Secretary of State for Scotland what discussions he has had with the Scottish Development Agency about the regeneration of Barrhead.
§ Mr. LangMy right hon. and learned Friend has had no recent discussions with the SDA about the regeneration of Barrhead. However, following the meeting I had with my hon. Friend the Member for Eastwood (Mr. Stewart), the agency is participating in the Barrhead regeneration study. A meeting to discuss the results of that study is planned for the middle of this month.
The agency continues to be involved in plans to develop the vacant land on the Armitage Shanks site. It has also provided advice to the management on its recent buy-out of the stainless steel operation at Barrhead.
