Whether they will list the number of inmate suicides for each of the last 10 years in Manchester Strangeways Prison.

The number of inmates who were found at an inquest to have committed suicide at Manchester Prison in each of the last 10 years are as follows:

1980 —
1981 1
1982 —
1983 1
1984 —
1985 1
1986 2
1987 3
1988 —
1989 3(1)
1990 (to 31st May) —(1)

(1) Inquests have yet to be held on one inmate who died in 1989 and two who died this year and whose deaths are thought to have been suicide.
