HC Deb 26 July 1990 vol 177 c536W
Mr. O'Neill

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, pursuant to his reply of 23 July, what is the approximate total expenditure reduction that has resulted from the interim measures that have already been implemented to alter the readiness of British military forces.

Mr. Archie Hamilton

It is too early to calculate what reduction in United Kingdom defence expenditure might result from the recently implemented interim measures to alter the readiness of some alliance forces; although we estimate that it will not be substantial.
