§ Lord Kennetasked Her Majesty's Government:
Whether they have accepted that part of the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea which allocates to the coastal state rights over and responsibility for migratory species of fish.
The Earl of CaithnessWe have no objection to Article 64 of the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea, which provides for regional co-operation in conservation and utilisation of highly migratory species of fish, between both coastal states of the region and other states whose nationals fish those species in that region. Similarly, we have no objection to Articles 66 and 67, dealing with less highly migratory species.
