HC Deb 25 July 1990 vol 177 c367W
Ms. Walley

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment what action he proposes to take to ensure the beach at Waveney, East Anglia, meets European Community standards.

Mr. Heathcoat-Amory

I am pleased to report that in 1989 both the identified bathing waters in Waveney met the standards for coliforms set in the bathing water directive and one, Lowestoft South, was awarded a blue flag. In addition, Southwold beach was also awarded a blue flag, although this bathing water is not at present identified under the directive.
