HL Deb 03 July 1990 vol 520 c2085WA
Lord Kennet

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether Lord Brabazon of Tara's answer to a question on 7th June (col. 1659) on the, "potential use of a computer virus as a battlefield electronics weapon to disrupt or destroy data in targeted communications computers", which was to the effect that, "the US Government has so far only called for a feasibility study", and that it was, "therefore premature to consider the scope for an agreement to limit computer viruses as battlefield weapons", indicates that if the study shows such weapons are "feasible", they would support such an agreement.

Lord Brabazon of Tara

No. We should not wish to prejudge our position at this stage.
