To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland what information he has on the actions which some health boards are taking to curtail their level of provision in order to remain within budget in the current year; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Michael Forsyth

All health boards are given an allocation of resources for capital and current expenditure before the start of each financial year. Boards plan their services accordingly.
