HC Deb 15 January 1990 vol 165 c62W
Mr. Andrew F. Bennett

To ask the Secretary of State for Employment, pursuant to his answer of 29 November,Official Report, column 271, in what ways a preventive inspection visit is different from a basic inspection visit.

Mr. Nicholls

The term "preventive" is synonymous with "basic" in describing inspection visits made to assess employers' compliance with the requirements of health and safety legislation and to provide advice about the various ways in which employers can monitor, maintain and improve health and safety standards.
