To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what aid is directed toward programmes aimed at protecting the black rhino.

In my answer to the hon. Member of 29 November 1989,Official Report, column 257, I referred to the list, placed in the Library of the House, of wildlife conservation activities in general in Africa in which we are involved. This includes the funding of a gamewarden to co-ordinate the Kenya rhino rescue project. We are now actively considering ways in which we may be of further help in conserving rhino in Tanzania.
