HC Deb 15 February 1990 vol 167 c385W
Mr. Tony Lloyd

To ask the Secretary of State for Employment what criteria the Health and Safety Executive uses in deciding whether a project is under the supervision of Her Majesty's inspectors of mines and within the mines and quarries regulations or regulated by the provisions of the Health and Safety at Work, etc. Act 1974.

Mr. Nicholls

Decisions about which inspectors supervise a particular project falling within the scope of the Health and Safety at Work, etc. Act are internal management matters for the Health and Safety Executive. If such a project is or concerns a mine as defined in the Mines and Quarries Act, it will be the exclusive concern of the mines inspectorate.
