§ Mrs. ChalkerBilateral assistance to eastern Europe is administered by a unit staffed jointly by the diplomatic and aid wings of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office. At the end of January 1990 the unit had six full-time posts of which three were filled by staff from the Overseas Development Administration. The future staffing of the unit is currently under consideration.
A number of other ODA staff spent part of their time on bilateral or multilateral matters concerning eastern Europe.
For each of these staff the percentage of time so involved varies greatly on a day to day basis and could be quantified only at disproportionate expense.
