HL Deb 12 February 1990 vol 515 c1237WA
Lord Vinson

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What incidence of salmonella infection (if any) the recent testing of poultry flocks of (a) 100 or less and (b) 25 or less has revealed.

The Minister of State, Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (Baroness Trumpington)

Since 26th October 1989, when the revised testing arrangements for salmonella in laying and breeding flocks came into operation, the presence of salmonella enteritidis or salmonella typhimurium has not been confirmed in any flocks of these kinds of 100 birds or under. Information on the incidence of other forms of salmonella, in terms of flock sizes, is not available.
