HL Deb 08 February 1990 vol 515 cc1021-2WA
Lord Tordoff

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether, in the light of Lord Trefgarne's answer to Lord Hooson's question (H.L. Deb., 13th November 1989, col. 1208) that waste paper from the House of Lords is recycled, paper waste should be separated from other waste by peers and staff, or whether this is done centrally.

Lord Hesketh

Waste generated by the House of Lords is roughly sorted on site into paper, glass and general waste. The quality of paper waste achieved is sufficient for a contractor to collect it free of charge as salvage and send it for recycling. It is understood that the contractor undertakes a further sort on his premises.
