HC Deb 05 February 1990 vol 166 cc507-8W
Mrs. Fyfe

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland whether he has any plans to reform the organisation of Scottish courts to ensure that cases are no longer abandoned because of delays in convening a trial.

Lord James Douglas-Hamilton

[holding answer 2 February 1990]No. The information available centrally indicates that less than 0.5 per cent. of all cases reported to procurators fiscal are not proceeded with due to court delays, predominately minor cases in the district courts.
