HC Deb 02 February 1990 vol 166 cc392-3W
Mr. Malcolm Bruce

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment what arrangements he intends to make for the completion of a marine nature conservation review.

Mr. Trippier

The marine nature conservation review is a long term programme to provide a descriptive framework of British marine ecosystems and is being conducted by the Nature Conservancy Council. This review commenced in 1987 and the Nature Conservancy Council has always envisaged that it would take 10 years to complete. I am satisfied with the Nature Conservancy Council's arrangements for its completion, although it is for the council to decide where its priorities lie.
