HC Deb 30 April 1990 vol 171 c457W
Mr. Ron Davies

To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what discussions he has had with the EEC on the use of Government funds for the promotion of British eggs; how much expenditure has been incurred on this scheme to date; what provision has been made for the full financial year 1990–91; and whether the European Community has approved this expenditure.

Mr. Maclean

I have no plans to use Government funds to promote eggs. As to the use of the net assets of the old Eggs Authority for such purposes, I would refer the hon. Member to the reply I gave to my hon. Friend the Member for Billericay (Mrs. Gorman) on 29 March at column258.
