HC Deb 30 April 1990 vol 171 c458W
Mr. Ron Davies

To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what animal-derived protein can legally be incorporated in cattle rations; and what is his estimate of the annual consumption by cattle of such protein.

Mr. Maclean

The feeding of ruminant-derived protein to ruminants was prohibited from July 1988. Protein derived from other animals may be fed to cattle providing it has been prepared in accordance with the Protein Processing Order 1989 and the Diseases of Animals (Waste Food) Order 1973. Information on the annual consumption by cattle of such protein is not available.
