HC Deb 18 April 1990 vol 170 c947W
Mr. Teddy Taylor

To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he will raise at the next meeting of the Council of Agriculture Ministers the provision made for the disposal of surplus food and wine in the current year; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Curry

As my hon. Friend knows, the United Kingdom has taken the lead over a number of years in pressing for action to be taken to control the level of agricultural surpluses and the cost of the common agricultural policy. We have achieved considerable success and at the forthcoming meeting of the Council of Agriculture Ministers we will be looking to maintain this progress.
