HC Deb 05 April 1990 vol 170 c778W
Mr. Andrew F. Bennett

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment what Government money has been paid to(a) the English Ski Council and (b) any other body promoting skiing in England; and if he will make it his policy that no Government funding goes to any organisation to support attempts to build a ski slope in Reddish vale.

Mr. Moynihan

The Sports Council allocated grants of £69,696 to the English Ski Council and £320,000 to the British Ski Federation in its financial year 1989–90. The figure for the Sports Council's regional expenditure for skiing in 1989–90 is not yet available. Neither the Government nor the Sports Council have received an application for funding towards a ski slope in Reddish vale.
