HC Deb 05 April 1990 vol 170 c783W
Mr. Nicholas Bennett

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment what assessment he has made of the effectiveness of measures taken to deal with dangerous dogs; what recent representations he has received calling for further measures, including a dog registration scheme; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Heathcoat-Amory

My right hon. and learned Friend the Secretary of State for the Home Department is monitoring the effect of the Dangerous Dogs Act 1989. Thre has been no problem in identifying owners in recent attacks so there would be no benefit from introducing a dog registration scheme.
