§ Mr. WaldegraveMy right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs met Dr. Savimbi on 13 October during his recent private visit to Britain. He was accompanied by myself and by FCO officials. We stressed to Dr. Savimbi the urgent need to restore the ceasefire in Angola and to resume negotiations with the Angolan Government without preconditions.
