To ask the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry if he will relocate the import licensing branch of his Department to Billingham in Cleveland.

The DTI has a programme of reviews in progress to examine the scope for relocating activities away from London and the south-east. Decisions have already been made to move the Patent Office to south Wales and parts of the insolvency service to Birmingham. The import licensing branch of my Department is one of a number of further areas included in the programme of reviews.
