HL Deb 18 October 1989 vol 511 c1016WA
Lord Fanshawe of Richmond

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Why in view of Answers given to earlier Questions on 5th April (Official Report, col. 1186), 28th June (Official Report, col. 833) and 19th July (Official Report, col. 901), litter has not been cleared from the central reservation of the A.4 between Hammersmith flyover and the Chiswick elevated section; whether they are aware that action has still not been taken by the local authorities; whether they have received reports as indicated in the reply on 19th July; and when they intend to give a further reply explaining what has happened to the additional funds allocated for the purpose of clearing the area.

Viscount Davidson

I regret that that the department's investigations into this matter have taken longer than expected. Both local authorities concerned have now reported on the action taken to clear the central reservation and I have written to the noble Lord today explaining the outcome.
