HL Deb 28 November 1989 vol 513 c416WA
Lord Carter

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What progress has been made in each London borough for the organisation of education for children with special needs following the abolition of the Inner London Education Authority.

Viscount Davidson

The inner London boroughs have set up a joint group—the Inner London Special Education Forum—to consider policy and cross-London issues relating to special education. Individually, boroughs are appointing to their education departments administrative and professional staff with responsibility for children with special educational needs. Staff in schools and units will transfer to the boroughs by statutory order.
