Mr. JacksonMy Department's main activity in the field of pre-development research—collaborative pre-competitive research involving the science base and388W industry —is through the research councils' participation in the Government's LINK initiative. There are currently 21 approved programmes, representing a total Government commitment of some £150 million, of which the research councils are contributing just over one third.
