HC Deb 15 November 1989 vol 160 cc286-7W
Mr. Fisher

To ask the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry whether his Department has discontinued(a) the collection or (b) the publication of any statistics since 1979.

Mr. Douglas Hogg

[holding answer 14 November 1989]: As a result of the changes in the organisation of Government economic statistics in July, data formerly collected by my Department are now collected by the Central Statistical Office (CSO). The table lists those surveys which were discontinued between 1979 and July 1989.

The policy of my Department has been to make available to the public, subject to confidentiality, the results of all statistical surveys that it has carried out. The CSO is continuing to publish nearly all the data for which it has assumed responsibility, and arrangements for publishing the remainder are currently under review.
