asked Her Majesty's Government:

What financial aids are available to owners of football grounds for installation of seating; and whether, in the light of new government powers to insist on greater provision of seating, they intend to help to increase such financial aids.

The financing of projects designed to improve safety and comfort at football grounds, including the installation of seated accommodation, is a matter for the football authorities and the individual clubs. I understand that the Football Grounds Improvement Trust has designated £4 million in 1990 for grants to help clubs install more seated accommodation.
