HL Deb 15 November 1989 vol 512 cc1389-90WA
Lord Kilbracken

asked her Majesty's Government:

In the light of the figures published by the Health Education Authority indicating that only six men and two women are known to have contracted AIDS in the United Kingdom up to 30th June 1989, other than those in the acknowledged high-risk categories or whose partners were in those categories, whether any information is available about the relevant behaviour of the eight infected persons.

The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State, Department of Social Security (Lord Henley)

The Communicable Disease Surveillance Centre has received reports of AIDS cases in two women and six men who are believed to have acquired HIV heterosexually in the United Kingdom. The two women reported multiple contacts with men from abroad. Five of the six men reported contacts with prostitutes.
