HC Deb 14 November 1989 vol 160 c130W
Mr. Ron Davies

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment, pursuant to his answer to the hon. Member for Caerphilly of 1 November,Official Report, column 237, why he has decided to extend the open general licence to release chukar and hybrid partridges into the wild.

Mr. Heathcoat-Amory

The decision to extend the open general licence to release chukar and hybrid partridges until the end of 1992 was based upon advice from the Government's species advisers, the Nature Conservancy Council, following the report from the Game Conservancy. No releases of chukars or their hybrids will be allowed beyond this date.
