HL Deb 07 November 1989 vol 512 cc699-700WA
Lord Campbell of Alloway

asked Her Majesty's Govenment:

Whether they will make a statement on the price of the Official Report.

The Paymaster General (The Earl of Caithness)

Following a review by Her Majesty's Stationery Office, the Government have decided that central subsidy of the Official Report for this House is no longer necessary and that prices can be held at their present levels for the time being. This welcome situation arises through the cost savings that are expected to result from introduction of new technology in the House and revised printing arrangements at HMSO. The scale of charges for reprints of Peers' speeches appearing in the Official Report—arrangements for which are separate from the production of the Official Report —will, however, be raised in line with inflation.
