HL Deb 22 May 1989 vol 508 c141WA
Lord Graham of Edmonton

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they have received a statement of the results of a recent vote by the members of the British Retailers Association on the Sunday trading proposals of the Shopping Hours Reform Council and if so what was the result of the vote.

Earl Ferrers

Yes. We were informed that the vote showed that 75 members opposed the Shopping Hours Reform Council's proposals and 40 members were in favour; and that if these were converted as in the previous consultation to figures representing full-time employees, 64.9 per cent. were in favour of the council's proposals and 19.6 per cent. were opposed.
