§ Mr. John MorrisTo ask the Prime Minister if she will co-ordinate the activities of the Chancellor of the122W Exchequer, the Secretary of State for the Home Department and the Attorney-General to ensure that the pay scales of both the Crown Prosecution Service and the magistrates' clerks are such that there is no shortage of staffs in either.
§ The Prime MinisterAs my right hon. and learned Friend the Attorney-General explained to the House on 8 May, there is an overall shortage of lawyers nationwide. This is of course taken into account in determining the pay of qualified lawyers employed by the Crown Prosecution Service and the magistrates courts.
