HL Deb 15 May 1989 vol 507 c1036WA
The Earl of Kimberley

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What stage the Police Complaints Authority has reached regarding the investigations of Mr. Earl Barton's complaint against the police (Official Report, 9th November 1988, col.719), in view of the Answer given on 21st March 1989.

Earl Ferrers:

I understand from the Police Complaints Authority that the investigation has been completed to their satisfaction and that Mr. Barton has been so informed. The question of possible criminal or disciplinary proceedings against the officers concerned is now being considered, and it may yet be some weeks before the outcome of these considerations is known.
