HL Deb 15 May 1989 vol 507 cc1033-4WA
The Countess of Mar

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What steps they are taking to improve upon the current eight months' delay in providing Social Security Department leaflets for members of the public via the Central Leaflet Unit.

The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State, Department of Social Security (Lord Skelmersdale)

Members of the public can now telephone the department's Freeline to obtain leaflets, which will normally be dispatched within a few days of receipt of the order.

Social services departments or other agencies who require bulk orders can use a new service that the department is testing. Using this system we intend that orders will be dispatched within five days from receipt of order. The department is writing to such agencies telling them of the new arrangements
