HL Deb 08 May 1989 vol 507 c540WA
Baroness Nicol

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they will list those pesticides which are approved or have approved off-label uses under the Control of Pesticides Regulations 1986 for application to:

  1. (a) watercress;
  2. (b) fish in freshwater farms;
  3. (c) fish in salt water farms.

The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State, Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (Baroness Trumpington)

Two pesticide products are approved under the Control of Pesticides Regulations 1986 (COPR) for use on watercress: "Primor", as an insecticide, and "Berelex", which has off-label approval as a growth regulator, both marketed by ICI.

The use of pesticides on fish is not subject to COPR but is covered by the Medicines Act 1968.
