HC Deb 23 March 1989 vol 149 c690W
Mr. Barry Jones

To ask the Prime Minister if she will visit North Wales police headquarters, Colwyn Bay, to meet the chief constable and the Gwynedd-Clwyd police committee to discuss police manning levels and to discuss developments in the level of crime; and if she will make a statement.

The Prime Minister

I have no plans to visit the North Wales police. Since the Government took office 51 extra police posts have been approved for North Wales. The police authority has applied for the further 10 posts in 1990–91. This will be considered. It is encouraging to see that recorded crime in North Wales fell by 6 per cent. in 1988.
