§ Mr. FrenchTo ask the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster (1) if he has had any discussions with the Director-General of Fair Trading regarding the pricing policy of British Telecom; and if he will make a statement;
(2) if he will discuss with the chairman of OFTEL the pricing policies of British Telecom; and if he will make a statement;
(3) if he has any plans to review the legislation which defines the services provided by British Telecom governed by the RPI-X pricing formula; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. AtkinsThese are matters for the Director General of Telecommunications to consider in the light of his independent statutory functions. I understand that at the end of last year he published a notice of his proposals for revising the price control formula in BT's licence with effect from 1 August 1989.
