HC Deb 13 March 1989 vol 149 c10W
Mr. Bermingham

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what steps are being taken to ensure that abuse of the hormone erythropoietin, does not become widespread in England and Wales; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Douglas Hogg

If there were evidence that this substance was being misused in the United Kingdom in such a way as to have harmful effects sufficient to amount to a social problem, it would be possible to consider bringing it under the control of the Misuse of Drugs Act, but we have so far received no such evidence.
