To ask the Secretary of State for Energy if he will make a statement on the long-term prospects for hydrogeneration of electricity.

Most of the possible locations for hydro electricity in the United Kingdom are situated in Scotland. The Department has commissioned a study from Salford university on the potential of small scale hydro energy in the United Kingdom. A final report will be published in due course.
