§ Mrs. Virginia BottomleyThe peregrine falcon is listed on schedule 1 to the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 as a species protected by special penalties. The Act makes it an offence to kill, injure or take a peregrine; destroy or take its eggs or damage or destroy its nest. Anyone found guilty of such an offence is liable to a fine of up to £2,000. Enforcement of these provisions is a matter for the police authorities and the courts.
