To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will make a statement on British aid to Lesotho.

Lesotho has long been an important recipient of British development assistance. Gross bilateral aid disbursements are estimated at almost £5 million in 1988.

In October 1988 we offered a new grant of £10 million for expenditure on agreed development projects over the next few years.
