§ Lord Kennetasked Her Majesty's Government:
Further to Lord Trefgarne's Answer of 11th July (Official Report, col. 250), whether they will specify, as asked in the original Question, whether their claim to 12 nautical miles of territorial sea round Rockall is recognised as such by the United States of America, the other adjacent states (other than the Repulic of Ireland, to which Lord Trefgarne's answer referred) and the European Community.
§ Lord TrefgarneIt is not our practice to ask other Governments whether they recognise maritime limits around our territory which are in accordance with international law. As already stated, we have no reason to doubt that our claim is recognised by all those referred to in the Question bar the Republic of Ireland.
